Valentines

We had some lovely CAS entries for our last Challenge over at the Craft Room Challenge, we'll have our work cut out again to chose our winners :-) but that's all good. Now to our next Challenge, the theme is Valentines. And appropriately I'm going with my new love- Twinchies I have fallen head over heels for these 2 x 2 pretties.

I've covered the chipboard base with tissue tape, and coloured with ink, I've then added Dazzling Diamonds, and then wet embossed in gold or black some images. I finished with an image, some lace and brads, and of course some words.

Make sure you check out the other DT pieces Here and I can't wait to see your Valentine Creations.
Have a great week.

Twinchie Trio

I'm having real fun creating Twinchies at the moment these are such fun to make.

For this trio, I've applied tissue tape, coloured with Soft Suede Ink (SU) then added iridescent powder. I've then wet embossed images from the stamp set Sense of Time (Su Retired). I've then decorated with various die cuts, images, a postage stamp, lace, jewels and eyelets.

Close Ups:

I'm entering these at Simon Says Stamp and Show where the theme is Anything but a Card.
And over at Fashionable Stamping Challenge where the theme is Butterflies or Bugs.

The Dt's on both teams have one some stunning work.

Have a great week

Crowns for Just Add Ink

Happy 100th Birthday Just Add Ink!!!! hard to believe all those great challenges that have happened,
JAI and in particular one of their team members Paula Dobson are responsible for inpiring me to share my creations and to inspire to create more and better. I pretty much credit them for giving me the confidence to create cards. So I couldn't pass helping them to celebrate this milestone.

Just add Crowns, I wanted to create a card with the crown as a centre part of the card, but also something a little over the top ,as is want of my style :-)

The photo doesn't really do the card justice I'm afraid as the liht is so bright it's hard to get a decent photo.

I think this has a nice vintage and slightly whimsey style.

Have a great day I hope the suns shining where you are.

Pretty Things

I always have the best intentions at entering the challenges sooner at Gingersnap creations but in the end time flies and its a last minute thing.
Here's my entry for the GC131 Random Redhead Challenge: Candelarbras,Chandeliers and candles.

I've taken a Manila tag, covered in tissue tape, the sponged on Poppy Parade ink (SU), I've then added Distress Stickles, and glitter. I then embossed the Chandelier image a couple of times, added a image and some gold acrylic paint for texture. Then an image and some ribbon and bling.

I hope you like it.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Plain and Simple

Wow, we had some gorgeous entries with our Anything Goes Challenge at The Craft Room check back next tuesday for our winners, you sure make it tricky for us :-)

Esther has chosen this next challenge, and she's asking us to go Plain and Simple. Now, I have to say that this proved to be the trickiest challenge for me, as I'm much more shabby vintage than Clean and Simple, so I made quite a few cards until I was happy.

I created a "window" with a die and the bigshot cut out of acetate, I then sponged and stamped, it's quite effective I think, though I may have over smooched :-)

Stamps: All SU, Forever Young, Afterthoughts.

Colour Combo: (All SU) Island Indigo, Luck Limeade, and Black.

the Dt have created some gorgeous cards so make sure you check them out Here

Have a great week

Winter Carnivale

My New Years resolution for 2012 is to be more creative, I want to be doing more art, and exploring my free hand drawing. Like a lot of people I'm always not so sure about my creations, but then at Nicki's blog (she's the Current Gingersnap Muse)I found the Strathmore Artist Free Online workshops and the first workshop of the year is Doodling :-) and exploring various ways of using Mixed Media. We are just week 1, so pop along and register yourself and you'll see some amazing work done by the students so far.
It's so cool that the workshop has already given me the confidence to just Draw and not worry.

Traci the teacher showed us how to create print background with sprays and found objects and to then just keep adding layers.

My preferred medium has always been pen and ink, but I've never been confident about the background- I think thats about to change.

Once I got started the doodles just flew onto the page, and out popped the slightly manic winter carnivale.

Used:
Acrylic Paint,
Ink,
Prismacolor Pencils,
Sharpies,
Painted on watercolour Paper.

Have a great weekend.

Pretty Wax Tag

There are lots of cool challenges to start off 2012 with a creative Bang!! I've made this tag with two challenges in mind.

Over at Gingersnap Creations the Spicey Theme Challenge is to use Wax in one form or the other on your creation. I've had some beeswax sitting in my stash for quite some time, and today I thought I'd have a go, because it's not commercial bees wax I've been able to melt it with my heat gun rather than needing a melting pot. I stamped onto a manila tag, then applied the wax, melted and then added some some images and then more wax, and so on until I was happy, I love how the wax softens the images but also really adds to the aged look.

Over at Fashionable Stamping Challenges They're challenged us to us something from our New Stash from Santa :-) On this tag there's a whole lot of new stuff, The resin flowers and the very pretty chiffon flower with pearl centre are my fav though.

As always thanks for taking the time to look.
