Thank You Card

Whoo Hooo my mojo is back, after having a very stressful time before Christmas, things have settled, and so my Mojo is back :-)
Here's a card I've made with just about my new favourite Stamp Set-Spiced Paisley (SU). I love the richness of Indian designs.

I've sponged in Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight then smooched with Gold. A couple of pearls and the card is ready.
I'm entering this at Gingersnap Creations Once in a Blue Moon Challenge- where they're asking for Thank You cards.

Venetian Mask

Our Holiday Challenge at Craft Room Challenge is Anything Goes! What fun :-)
Anyone who's been following my blog for a while will know that I have a mild obsession with Venice Lol.
I also love Christmas, because a traditional english Christmas just doesn't work here in the Southern Hemisphere, at least not for me and my family, I like to go with themes, this year I did a Venetian theme again (though different colours to last year), here is the mask I made for this years table.

I took a plain mask and using mod Podge used the napkins I'd bought for the table to cover the mask, I then added glitter in various forms and some bling, I love how it turned out.

I also made the crackers again this year using Venice stamps, I use my friend Delys Cram's tutorial for the crackers, it's the best one I've found.

Finally here are some more photos of my christmas table this year.

Wishing you all a peaceful and Joy filled 2012.

Fancy Egg Box

I needed a little gift for someone so I made a fancy Christmas egg box with our Free range eggs in it, combined with a handmade wool angel and card.
I used lots of different dies to create all the elements as well as the SU Stamp Set Word Play, which is one of my fav sets. I added some seam binding which I aged and it's all done.

I'm entering this over at Just Add Ink where the challenge this week is wrap or create a gift box :-)

Wishing you all Happy Holidays

Venetian Dreams

We had some lovely entries for our last challenge, including a few men crafters which I loved to see. This fortnights challenge at Craft Room Challenge, has been picked by me :-)
I've chosen a Travel or Postcard Theme, I love vintage postcards, but I also love how travel, and even dreaming of travel can truly be inspiring.

For my piece I've created this mini accordian book, it's about 2 inches square, I've used the 2 Venetian sets by Darkroom Door, to create this lovely little book. I've used my fav techniques- sponging and collaging. For the inside of the covers I used some silk like fabric, to give a luxury feel.

As usual some gorgeous work done by my fellow Design team members, so be sure to check them out and join in the fun.

Have a Great Week

Happy Halloween

I've had such fun creating this wall hanging for my front door :-) Halloween isn't big here in New Zealand, but I just love all these fun spooky things and the colours.

I've started with a chipboard scallop circle, which I've sponged and stamped, I created the ruffle around the edge with patterned paper. Then I've added handmade roses and leaves, bling, glitter, ribbon, twine and finally some raven feathers (actually featherrs from one of my chickens ;) ).
It's looking lovely hanging on my front door all ready for tomorrow.

I'm entering this hanging into the following challenges:

Shabby Tea Room Happy Halloween, with orange, black, purple and twine.

Colour, Any Colour

I had a bit of a panic when I realised the international posting day is nearly upon us and I still have 30 christmas cards to make!!! So looking for inspiration in blogland and wanting to use a new stamp set featuring this cute polar bear. I've gone with the Show a colour any colour challenge over at Simon says Stamp and Show
Blue is definately one of my favourite colours.
I've sponged and masked and added some glitter to create the snowy backdrop, then I've stamped the polar bear and dimensionalised him, added some ribbon and glitterery snowflakes and the card is done. I have to say the photo doesn't really do it justice, as this is very pretty with all the glitter.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Vintage Christmas

I've made this simple Christmas card, using some sponging and masking techniques. I love creating sepia cards/scenes, as they do remind me of the old fashioned sepia photos and postcards, which I love. I've added some stripey patterned paper and seam binding as well as some gold brads and gold smooch just to add a little lift.
I'm entering this in the Show us your Stripes Challenge over at Simon says Challenge

Kindness Tag

I've created this tag for the Rogue Redhead Challenge, which is Fabulous Quotes. The quote stamp I've used is from a retired SU set, and I love it.

"Kind words can be easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless." Mother Theresa.

I've sponged and stamped the tag, with several stamps, added some flowers, lace, jewels and some sponged seam binding, and it's done. It has a spring feel because down here in the Southern Hemisphere we are entering Spring x

Have a great Day

Halloween Card

Today at Crafters Anonymous Bek has shown us how to make a Tri Shutter card, I've always wanted a go at one of these but have been put off by the fancy folds and cuts, Bek made it real easy :-) I've made a Trick or treat card, I love how it's turned out.

I've used the halloween set from crafty Secrets to decorate it, as well as sponging the background, these cards are great for using a whole set of stamps LOL

I'm entering this card into the current challenge over at Simon Says Stamp where the current challenge is Halloween or Goth. The DT have created some stunning samples so make sure you go and check them out.

I love this new stamp set from Lost and Found, which is where the tightrope walker is from. I've sponged and stamped the background with various stamps. I created this card with our gorgeous daughters in mind, to inspire them to Wish Big !!

Case Study Christmas

There's some great Christmas inspiration from the Case Study DT and I've had time to play along this week. I wanted to create a folky feel christmas card and I love how it's turned out.

I think the stitching and the sponged edges really bring it all together.

Egg Box

We have new neighbours, and we wanted to make them feel welcome, but what to give someone you've never met? So hubby had the idea of fresh free range eggs from our hens, and then he said "you'll be able to pretty them up" so I worked my magic on this egg box, and I love how it's turned out.

I've used pretty paper and stamped using an egg image to produce the belly band for the egg box, add a sentiment and some ribbon and I love how it's got a homey feel.
The card is brayered, after clear embossing the image.

Our new neighbours were over the moon :-)
Have a great sunday

Cats, cats and more cats....

Zoe is choosing our new challenge over at Craft Room challenge and she loves cats ;-) I love cats too but I'm allergic to them, so I have to make do with looking at over peoples cats.
So the challenge is to produce a piece of loveliness with cats on it.
Here's my card, I've gone for a simple scene, the idea came to me first thing in the morning as I woke, and so I just went down to my studio and put the card together, I love when that happens.

As usual I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with, and don't forget to check out the gorgeous pieces created by the rest of the DT.

Vintage Spring tag

Over at Crafters Anonymous we are welcoming Spring, yep down here in the Southern Hemisphere Spring is definately on it's way. We've asked everyone to either use this SU set called Nature's Song or anything with a bird or spring theme. I'm also entering my tag at Fashionable Stamping Challenges where the theme is vintage.
I started by stamping the ATC with the bird and the egg images. then I've sponged the background. then for the base of the tag, I've stamped and sponged and distressed. Then I've added some pretty lace, flowers etc. I like how it's turned out, and I think the colours shout Spring.

Travel Bookmark

I'm just sneeking this travel inspired bookmark in to the Once in a Blue Moon challenge over at Ginger Snap creations This challenge was to choose any of the previous art Exchanges, I chose travel bookmarks, I had been hoping to make a few, but time ran away with me and so it's just the one I'm afraid.
I have created a pretty paris themed bookmark, there is quite a bit of texture added with tissue paper, but the bookmark isn't bulky, so should work well as a bookmark.
Whole heap of stamps on here, including SU Artistic Etchings, Faith In Nature and Provencal.

Have a great week everyone.

Christmas ATC

Over at Rogue Red Head Challenges Shar has asked us to make a Think Outside the ATC. I love ATC's at the best of times, but adding elements to the design to add extra dimension looks really cool. I have christmas on my mind at the moment ;-) so I've gone with a Christmas Theme. I've stamped and coloured the background and mounted onto some textured cardstock. I've then added some roses, ribbon, bling
and holly and a Christmas stamped image from Hero Arts. I added glitter to a chipboard bird for the final touch.

Have a great rest of the week.

Teen Tribute

Gosh, it's been so long- too long since I had a play along at GingerSnap Creations. Here's a little wall hanging I've made for the GC115 Challenge- Tribute To Teens. I have to say I just love this. I've coloured the base using inks and gold acrylic paint. I've stamped random images with Cherry Cobbler (SU Ink), then embellished with a few bits and bobs from my stash. Finally I've hung the piece using one of those tag things- don't know what they're called.

Over the next few months this will become my main blog, I hope you get chance to visit sometimes, have a great week.

Free Your Bird

Over at Mixed media monday the challenge is to stretch yourself and produce a piece of art in the opposite size to your norm. I've been doing Atc's and postcards, teerified of the large blank canvases waiting in the corner :) so here's my biggest piece so far - it's about 40 cm X 55 cm.
I'm really happy with how it's turned out and I think I'm not scared of blank canvas any more :)

Media Used
Gouache, acrylic, pen & ink. Vintage paper.
