Wise Woman Santos Doll

I'm having some studio time today ( sunday) and as I knew I'd have an uninterrupted run, I thought I'd finally make the Retro Art Cafe Santos doll kit, that I've had in my stash for over a year!

I confess that I was really unsure what to do or where to start, faced with the dark brown masonite - I'm often left panicking .... So I thought I'll just paint all the parts white with acrylic paint, so thats what I did. I then added some stamping with the script stamp and some words from a couple of Paper Artsy Stamp sets.

Next I added some wash tape, to add more depth. Finally I added some colour with gelato and gold acrylic paint.

Then the fun part- the decorating, by this point I realised I wanted to create a softer divine feminine doll.

As you can see I added hearts, pearls, flowers and leaves to create the soft look.

I'm entering my doll into the following Challenges:

PaperArtsy- Theme is Hearts

Craft Stamper Magazine - 2nd Entry Take a stamp ( my background for my doll, created with stamps and paint)

I hope that all my Stateside friends affected by the storm are safe and warm, and wishing everyone a lovely weekend.

Steampunk Winged Love

Oh my I've been so busy- my Mojo is on a roll, for my second post today.. I'm sharing with you a little altered winged thing.
Inspired by 2 challenges and my unused stash of goodies that have been waiting for me for way too long.

The 2 challenges are:

Sandee and Amelie Steampunk Challenge- where the challenge is 3's ( added the #3 in roman numerical and  3 lots of 3 roses)

and

the Wings Challenge over at the Mixed Media Creative Gym Exercise #3

Steampunk Winged Love

I've used a whole heap of goodies on here, I started with a masonite base from Retro Art cafe, sparked it with Pewter Distress Spray, stamped with cogs and gears using Archival ink, I then added all sorts of gears and cogs, flowers and roses from my stash. I chose not to colour all the details with metallic paint, but to keep the colours, but add some Charcoal Art Sugar glitter.

Stampunk Winged Love Two

She'll be hanging on my jewellery cupboard - thanks for keeping up with my current art adventures.

Both books are now happily in the hands of the teachers.

Day Dream Canvas

I've used the cool Rogue Redhead Designs  Relish Reading and the Getting Grizzley set, to create this funky bright canvas. I was inspired by a feature in the Craft Stamper magazine.

Altered Canvas
I used acrylic paints, with masks and random painting and then added some background stamps, I once again had heaps of fun creating this.

Use some Wood at Craft Room Challenge

We have such a cool theme this time from Zoe- Use some wood, this is partly in honor of a new sponsor:

The MDF Man no banner but go and take a look at all the goodies he has ready and waiting for altering.   He has given us a selection of his Cogs as a prize for one lucky person drawn at random.

This is what Zoe says about her Use some Wood theme : "When I saw the stand at a local craft show I had to get a selection of goodies to try, wood is a great medium to work with and this time we would like you to include something made of wood in your entry.   Real wood not an image be it twigs from the garden, some bark, or a wooden embellishment from the craft shop."

I've had this plain wooden box for over a year- hubby gave it to me for some of my bits and bobs, I've also had the Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante papers for an age but couldn't bear to use them on pages cause I loved them whole ;-)
So then I realised perfect for the box.

Altered Wooden Box
I covered the box with paper, and then I've added embellishments Finn style.

The top of the Box

Just love how it's turned out so rich and slightly Edwardian Steampunk :-)

Close up of Lid

I'm going to enter this over at Unruly PaperArts where they're having a Wooden September.

Readers Quest 1 :  3D Wooden project.
