Angel Star

Tonight at Tia's first class of the year she showed us how to make these cool decor scrapbook hearts.
I couldn't decide what photos to put on mine, so I used some angel images and turned it into a kind of angel dream catcher.

Have a great week.

Heritage Layout

The theme I've chosen for the 2nd Crafters Anonymous Scrapbook Challenge is Heritage. Some people are frightened of scrapping old family photos.

The key thing to remember is to NEVER use the original photo.
I have all my old family photos scanned into my computer and then backed on to Flashdrives. This means I can print them out any size I want but also again and again.
Secondly by scanning them in, it means that all family members can have copies of these treasured photos, but also if more than one person has them if something awful was to happen like a fire, we would still have these family heirlooms.

I also think that colour's important when scrapping these old sepia or black and white photos, sticking to all browns as is common, I think potentially does little to showcase these photos. I like to use some or lots of colour on my heritage layouts.

This photo is of my maternal grandma it was taken to celebrate her 21st birthday.

Here's some close up's I love that I've added a real peacock feather. I think it just adds to the whole glamourous look of the photo.

I also added glitter and pearls to the DSP, to give it a bit more depth. As you can see I've also added some stitched details.

If you're a already a member of CA I hope to see you play along, if not and you're interested then email me for details, or find us on Facebook.

Have a great week.

Pocket Book

I've so busy this week that this is the first chance I've had to post a photo of the online class I taught on Monday at Crafters Anonymous.

It's a little scrapbook, with some fancy folding inside to make some pockets for tags for the journalling. I haven't had chance to take a photo of the inside yet :-(

Tomorrow I'll be posting my next page for the next Crafters Anonymous Scrapbook Challenge.

Romantic layout

Over at Crafters Anonymous I'm now lucky to be the scrapbook co-ordinator :-) which means I get to host some fun challenges.
Sunday was the launch of our first scrapbook challenge for fun- and with February being a popular month for weddings and of course it's the month of Valentines day I set the theme of Romance and Love.

Here's the 12 x 12 page I created of my sister in law on her wedding day :-) she made a beautiful bride.

I really enjoyed creating this page.

Alice Pen Holder

This is Dee's class tonight over at Crafters Anonymous , a cool pen holder, I've covered the insides with modpodge to give a bit more durability. Then decorated it with Alice and the white rabbit.
This is perfect for my daughter's new desk, she's very pleased with it.

Coromandel Days

Every year hubby and I travel to the Coromandel for our professional development courses, we've been going for 7 years. We stay at Mana Retreat which is probably one of the most beautiful places in New Zealand, certainly for a course anyway :-) the 4 days there recharges us for the next 12 months, it's an amazing place.

Here's my scrapbook layout for November in the Crafters Anonymous 12 pages for 12 months Challenge- that's my book finished now !!!

I wanted to create a page with a journal kind of feel so I've created the background using acrylic paint over stamped DSP, i've then hand written my journalling and added some irridescent powder and glitter.
The ribbon is from one of my birthday presents :-) The overall effect is very pretty and I'm pleased how it's turned out.

I'm also going to enter this over at Just Add Ink's current scrapbook challenge, which is holidays.

Cute and Cuddly

Wow, what a whole lot of gorgeousness for our Valentine challenge at theCraft Room , you always make it tricky for us to chose the winners!

Julia has chosen our new challenge- Cute and Cuddly, in my head I keep thinking soft and cuddly, and I think that's why I went with this cute Gorjuss image with the polar bear.

This stamp was one of my christmas pressies from my dad, lucky I know!

I've coloured the image with Promarkers, my first go, and added some texture to the polar bear with a white gel pen. I've also added some glittery snow.

I hope you get chance to play along for this challenge, and don't forget to check out the other DT work as it's as lovely as ever.
