Wish you were Here

I say it every fortnight but gosh doesn't it come round quick? You wowed us once again with your sentimental creations, making Mervi's job as tricky as ever :-)

For our next challenge at Craft Room Challenge, Hazel wants to see postcards inspired by summer holidays and travel. The postcards need to be 6 x 4 inches, and must be stand alone, ie not attached to another project like a card, or scrapbook LO.

I went all Parisian ;) for my creation.

Paris Postcard

This is a combination of techniques and combos of images and stash finds. I started with a 6 x 4 chipboard base, I then added Tim Holtz tissue paper and painted with acrylic paint . I then stamped some Parisian Franking marks ( you can't see them - they kinda got lost in the next processes ;) ).
I then embossed using one of the new embossing folders again from Tim Holtz.
I then added the collage elements, using some of the Crafty Individual images (our sponsor for this challenge) and a Marie image from my stash.
I then added the flowers and bits and bobs, and blended them all together with more paint.

Finally I added beeswax.

As I mentioned our sponsor for this challenge is Crafty Individuals.

Daring Adventure Layout

I'm just sneaking this into Just Add Inks Scrapbook Challenge - Siblings- this is my second entry and is another Digital page created with Stampin' Up's MDS. All elements are also SU, and there are a lot of layers on this baby ;)

Colonial Knob Walk LO

It's pretty cool that you can chose a Layout with a pre-photo ready layout- which is what I did for this page as I like the idea of a circle photo.

Tomorrow, I'll print this out and attach it to a 12 x 12 paper or cardstock and decorate it a bit more, ready for my 2013 yearbook.

Funky Background

This was such quick fun to make, I took  a scrap piece of glossy card, sprayed with some Dylusions sprays, dried it with  a heat tool. Then stamped with black Archival ink.
The flower and sentiment are from Stampin' Up!

Lay Claim to your Fate

I love this sentiment and Midge from the new Stamps from Rogue Redhead Designs. For my first creation with this brilliant collection of stamps I wanted to create something bright and funky lol

I stamped the background first. I then stamped Midge on glossy card and coloured her with Primacolor markers.

Something New

June 2012 Layout

Here's my first Hybrid scrapbook layout! I've very excited about this, all credit goes to Delys Cram, who created a 8 x 8 digital scrapbook page, then printed it out and then attached it to  a 12 x12 piece of cardstock.

I have been making digital layouts for many years, I love how they are quick. However, I rarely print them out, as how do you easily and cheaply print out a 12 x 12 layout?

So this is the perfect solution. The Stampin' Up! MDS is also fab because you can get digital versions of your favourite stamps, and they are much cheaper than the clear or rubber versions. I'd not used digital brush stamps before- but I think I might be addicted lol

So for this LO, I first created a 8 x 8 digital Layout ( all SU) I then printed it out and attached it to a 12 x 12 piece of paper and added other pieces to mat it. Some lace and stitching add some dimension.

For me this hybrid form of scrapping is perfect for when you want to create a lot of pages or you have a lot of photos. This LO is forming part of my 2012 album. Next I will be doing another album this way for our holiday photos.

I'm entering this over at Just Add Ink, where they want us to try a new technique, I hope that the hybrid LO and the use of the virtual stamps counts :)

Mount Climbie LO

Mount Climbie Digital LO

Today I have another scrapbook layout for you, but this ones digital. I'm currently trialling the Stampin' Up! Digital software MDS. This is the first 8 x 8 layout using MDS.  In some ways it's better than my current software, but in other's it's not, so I'm still undecided whether to buy the full version. I do like the free stuff that comes with it.

The photo was taken last year on the boys first climb up Mount Climbie, which is 810 metres above sea level, on the way up they were caught in a hail storm.

I used another digital paper from my digital Stash- designed by Amanda Sok. Everything else is from Stampin' Up! Lots of layers to give the look and texture I like.

I'm entering this LO over at Just Add Ink's scrapbook challenge, where the theme is siblings.

So Sentimental

12 x 12 Layout, photo from July 2011

Thank you for all the stunningly creative entries to my In the Library theme, you certainly Wowed me, and as usual made my Top 3 picking job tricky ( I wouldn't have it any other way ;-) )

For our next challenge  at Craft Room Challenge Mervi has chosen the theme of So Sentimental, so we want to see a focus on Sentiments.

I have scrapped this photo before, but it was for my son's teacher, so this photo's been in the pile for a while to scrap again but for keeps.

I started with a blank white piece of 12 x 12 cardstock,  and added some Tim Holtz tissue paper. I then masked, sprayed and sponged to create a base. I then layered some scraps of patterned paper and tissue tape to matt behind the photo. I then stamped using various stamps, in Archival Black ink, Wild Wasbi (green SU ink) and white, to build up layers, I also added some smooch.

I then stamped the Sentiment with Archival ink staright onto the photo, I love this sentiment and I love the effect of stamping directly onto the photo.

Finally I added some metal snowflakes that have been waiting patiently for years to be popped on the right layout, and the library clip.

Our sponsor is Tando Creative.

I also just wanted to say that it's a pleasure to have my new Kiwi friend Esther from Siesta Scraps as our Guest Designer at the Craft Room, if you'd like to be a Guest Designer just add GDT after your entry.

Mini canvas

This canvas is approximately 6 x 6 inches. I've gessoed and painted with acrylics. I then added 2 images from Gecko Galz, and then the fun really starts.
I added some Prima flowers, chipboard key and bits and bobs from my stash. I then blended everything with more paint.

I do so love this creative inky, sticky painting process.

I'm entering this over at Snazzy's where they are asking us to be inspired by Ania Dabrowska  aka Finnabair. So I really couldn't pass this one up, as I'm still on a creative high after attending 2 of her workshops on her recent New Zealand tour.

Autumn Glory

So as you start to taste the Joys of Spring, we in the Southern hemisphere are in a glorious Autumn. The leaves on the non- native trees are starting to turn and we're having some lovely sunny days. I love Autumn and the colours and that's what has inspired this journal page today.

I started by just painting some swirls with some gold, red and orange acrylic paint that I had left over from another project. Once dry, I then sprayed some yellow Dylusions spray.  Then I stamped some background stamps, which are a bit hard to see on the photo. Then using stamps from RRD Floriculture set, I stamped with black Archival ink.

I'm entering this over at Fashionable Stamping Challenge- where the theme is Journal.

I hope that where ever you are in the world you are enjoying your change in Season.

In the Library

It's my lucky turn to host the challenge at Craft Room Challenge, I'm pretty excited because our sponsor for this challenge is Rogue Redhead Designs (RRD), And both I and Helene this challenge's Guest Designer are on the Team for RRD :-)

I've chosen the theme In The Library, so I'd love to see your creations with books, text, mini books etc.

I've altered an old book that I've had sitting on my studio shelf for years, waiting to be altered ;) My classes with Finnabair have left me seriously inspired to get altering, and so I make no apology for her heavy influence with this piece. I've used the RRD set Relish Reading one of my all time favs.

Front Cover
Heaps of Flowers and Metal Hardware on here, and then Finnabairs tricks to blend everything together, for an organic look.

Inside I've decorated some of the pages, Here's at the back of the book:

Inside Book

I added a little cut away, and then stamped and added some prettiness. Please hop over to the Craft Room and check out the stunning DT work, they've done me proud.
